The word house is used to talk about the family living in a home, or the acquainted space inside an individual’s home, or the place somebody was born or lived as a child. The Museum commissioned scale models of 14 iconic American properties run down the center of the gallery space, delighting guests who recognize such special buildings as Mount Vernon and the John Hancock Center.
Just opposite the room, in a bit known as “Living at Home,” the exhibit makes its most poignant assertion.
