Types of FIBC Bags

There are four main types of fibc bags.

Type A

The first type is the Type A. These particular bags are going to be made of plain woven polypropylene and non-fabrics that are non-conductive. This means that static electricity as the products moves over or if they rub against the inside surface of the bag. This is going to happen as they are discharged or filled. There are many organic materials and chemicals that are going to form to create the combustible clouds that are ignited by the electrostatic discharges. The safe uses for the Type A bags are to transport the products that are not flammable and the solvents or gases that might be found in the bag that are not flammable. You should not use the Type A bags for transporting the products that are flammable, those solvents or gases found in the bag that are flammable, or in an atmosphere where things can be flammable.

Type B

The second type is the Type B. These bags are going to be very similar to the Type B bags because they are going to be made with some materials. This means that they are not going to have the mechanism to create any static electricity. But they can also be made from materials that have a low breakdown voltage in order to prevent any incidents from happening where there might be a lot of energy and a dangerous amount of discharges. Even though they can prevent the propagating brush discharges from happening, they are still not considered to be anti-static since they are missing the mechanism. The safe use for the type B bags is going to include to transport dry and flammable powers and the no flammables solvents that can appear in the bad. You should not use the bags when there are flammable gases or solvents around the bag.

Type C

The third type is the Type C bags. These are going to be better known as conductive or ground-able bags. This is because they are made from the non-conductive polypropylene fabrics that are interwoven with the conducting threads sewn in a grid pattern. These threads are electronically interconnected as well as connected to the designated ground during the discharging and filling. Therefore, you are going to need to make sure that the bag is grounded properly so that you are going to be safe while using it. The safe way to use this bag is to transport powders that are flammable and the combustible dust, vapors, or gases that are flammable and present. You should not use these bags if the ground connection is not present or if it has become damaged for some reason.

Type D

The last type is the Type D. These bags are made of materials that are anti-static and static. They are designed to help protect against and prevent the occurrence of the incendiary sparks, propagating brush discharges, and brush discharges. The best part is that you don’t have to be connected to the bag and the designated ground. There are also some bags that are made with quasi-conductive yarns that can safely dissipate the static electricity into the atmosphere in a safe and low energy discharge of the corona. Plus these bags do not have to be interconnected with each other. You can safely use these bags to transport flammable powders or when the vapors, combustible dusts, or gases are present. You should not use these bags when the surface of the bag has been contaminated or coated with a conductive material like grease or something else that might be very flammable, which is going to include combustible materials.
